Artist's Statement

My photographs are often compared to abstract paintings. Extreme close up photography of details found within large marine life enable me to create my unique images.

A love of the ocean, nature and photography inspires me to capture images from the ocean realm. I am challenged by the unpredictable elements within the sea such as light, movement of water and animal behavior. Diving in remote and exotic locations around the world presents an incredible variety of life forms as subjects.

Found within these waters are a myriad of wonderful shapes, design elements, textures and a generous palette of colors which I use to create these abstract images, my underwater photography is not a documentary approach to marine life; rather it is to find and create a perspective not otherwise seen.
